How to Transport Substitutions and Validations in SAP ?

Hello,

Below blog explains how to transport Validation/Substitutions, and post activities to be performed once Validation/Substitution is imported to Production.

TCodes:

Validation Tcodes: GGB0/OB28

Substitution Tcodes: GGB1/OBBH

Once Substitution/Validation is created, note that system does not ask for Transport while saving. The changes have to be imported by capturing the Substition/Validation seperately.

Note: Always be careful while transporting Substitions/Validations, as TR will capture the entire Substition/Validation set (Including all the steps). So make sure that all the steps are in sync with production system, and yours is the only new change that need to be imported to Production.

Let's take a simple example, below Substitution is created from GGB1.

System did not ask for Transport, it got saved too.

To capture the Substitution in Transport, select the top level 'Substitution'  set(not the step). In below example Substition set is L00001.

Click on Substition at the top, then Transport

Then select the flags - Logical rules and Boolean Class.

(Always remeber - not to select 'Transport sets'. As this will overwrite if the set is already in Production, and some new values are added to the list.)

Execute, now you would be able to save the Substituion in a TR.

Then Import the TR to Production.

Post Production Import Activity:

As a post activity, SAP suggests below program to be executed whenever Substitution/Validation changes are imported to PF1.

This program will make sure that ABAP coding is generated correctly for the imported Substition/Validation.

Program: RGUGBR00 (Execute this program from Tcode SE38)

Thanks for reading, and hope it provided some new insights to you :)
